Barry is fascinated by the processes of transformation and time. His work uses materials like wood that document time and be transformed into many forms. Forms and processes in his work are metaphors for personal transformation.

He has exhibited work at venues including the Crocker-Kingsley Art Exhibition, Sonoma County Museum of Art, Art Poetica in Brooklyn, Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, and Root Division San Francisco. 

His education includes an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. He instructs high school art and has a college advising and portfolio preparation business, helping artists and designers prepare to attend college.
